A series that maps the landscape

I am writing a composition for strings. It is called 'Flint' and is for the Corelli Ensemble.

I have come up with a series of notes that is shaped like the undulation in the landscape of the Sussex Downs.

There is also now a seven note pattern rising up from the bass, as though the sea is rising to meet the land.

These are starting to form some of the tunes and harmonic progressions in the piece.
