Flint tools and angular tunes

I am writing a composition for strings. It is called 'Flint' and is for the Corelli Ensemble.

The first movement of 'Flint' is now in sketch form and is fast. It is marked 'edgy' because of the sense of industry and flint tools and walls that distinguish the history and culture of Sussex. The main tune at the start looks angular, again to reflect the ever present industry hidden in this beautiful place. But also I am seeking a strongly harmonic quality in the music, which I equate to the intense colours of Sussex's rural landscape, which I have experienced on many walks.
